Sharada Kerkar was born to a Goan family and has spent her childhood in Goa. After her graduation in Economics from Christ University, Bangalore, she travelled to Grameen Bank in Bangladesh to understand the idea of micro-finance for the poor. Her curiosity to understand the development sector drove her to join the Gandhi Fellowship where she engaged in transforming the government schools in the tribal belt of Udaipur. Currently, she is working as a Senior Project Executive and is involved in the English and Digital for Girls’ Education (EDGE) Project at DEF.
