Community Information Resource Centre has now added another project Rural Housing Knowledge Network to facilitate the communities. RHKN is a project of IIT, Delhi under which durable and sturdy houses are constructed at a low cost. Since Panchayats play a very important role in decision making in the villages they were also included in this project.
To initiate this project DEF & IIT, Delhi organized a 2 day workshop in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh on 14th & 15th May, 2014. Out of 40 CIRCs running in 22 states, 20 representatives from 10 states participated in this workshop. In Taragram Orchha, these 20 representatives visited Taragram and enquired about solid bricks made from Fly Ash and instead of heavy linters got to know about light and strong linters and also saw how Eco-friendly sheets are made. In addition, they got to know about the building construction of Taragram, Orchha.
In the coming time, RHKN project is expected to start at 10 CIRCs in different parts of the country.
