Women are an integral part of the society contributing to its function and prosperity. However, women do not have an equal place in most societies around the world. ‘’A Dialogue on Women Empowerment: Challenges & Opportunities” was the theme for CIRC Batadrava’s women’s day celebration.
All around the world, International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
Each year International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate this day to highlight the plight of women.
With the said enthusiasms CIRC Batadrava in association with Batadrava Matri Block Mahasanga, a partner CBO for the programme organized International Women’s Day-2015.
The programme was scheduled for three (3) hours flocked with deliverables such as lectures by experts on various issues pertaining to women and their empowerment, screening of inspirational videos on women empowerment and felicitation of outstanding female students to encourage them further. Following are the credentials of the expert lecturers:

- Dibyajoyti Barua, Journalist, Batadrava, Nagaon
The experts delivered their lectures touching upon various issues pertaining to women and their empowerment such as domestic violence, finance opportunities, public schemes, legal know how, ICT and women’s education to name a few. The programme was successfully conducted in the stipulated time with active participation of the audience, mostly women but also a few men. The programme drew more than hundred (100) participants and with consistent effort from the CIRC team members and the volunteering members of Batadrava Matri Block Mahasanga it turned out to be an involved affair contributing to its success.
