Vimala was a house wife when she started taking up small tailoring jobs at her home. Along with stitching clothes, she started training young girls in her neighbourhood in tailoring. However, she soon realised that her designs and cuts were outdated and that it was important for her to keep up with latest trends. When she came to know about the Digital Tailoring Classes offered at CIRC Wanaparthy, she soon got herself enrolled. ‘Digital tailoring’ is a training programme designed by the staff of the CIRC with an aim to gear tailoring professionals with internet skills through which they can explore latest designs and cuts on the internet and could apply or replicate them in their work. The helped Vimala enhance her traditional tailoring skills as now she can search for new design ideas using internet as well as how to recreate them while stitching. This has not only helped her get more customers, but has also helped her students learn the nuances of modern tailoring.
