On August 8, 2016, a new Community Information Resource Centre, integrated with Soochna Seva Kendra was inaugurated at Shivpuri village of Bhilangana block in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand with the support of Oracle and CAIF. The centre was inaugurated by the Block Head of Bhilangana, Shri Vijay Ghunshola. Also present on the occasion were Block Development Officer Shri Bijendra Prasad, besides the Additional Development Officer, Gram Pradhans and District Magistrate Shri Brijesh Kumar.
Kumar apprised the community members of the activities and services rolled out by Soochna Seva; and the digital literacy offered by the centres. He also appealed to the community to adopt digital tools and technology to move with time. Assuring every one of his continued support, he and the Gram Pradhans wished luck to the community and the centre staff. BDO Prasad, too, assured people of his support and promised the public that he would try to address any grievance that they may have.
While thanking the team, Prasad urged the community to make the best use of the newly opened CIRC to learn about computers and access information about various government benefits that they are entitled to but are deprived of. Further, he emphasised on the importance of digital literacy in the present age for a better future, to increase employability and to access relevant and timely information. Meanwhile, Ghunshola appealed to DM Kumar to allow and facilitate the establishment of two more kendras in the remote and backward areas of Bhilangana block.
