Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) celebrated the Independence Day by inaugurating two new CIRCs in District Betul. Opened in villages of Kamthi and Salimet, in collaboration with Pradan and with support of TATA Trusts, the CIRCs are established with an aim to give special emphasis to women empowerment. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Gram Sabha facilitators and government school administrators, who assured all possible support in the smooth functioning of the Community Information Resource Center.
The effect of Information & Communication Technology & its significance was discussed at length, focussing on the idea of setting up Digital Data house for communities. This would enable easy & affordable access of Digital & online services, which would lead to enhanced livelihood and level of education. Greater acceptance towards ICT tools would not only raise their standard of living but also build confidence, especially of children who are the future leaders of community empowerment.
On the day following the inauguration, CIRC team member Masroor attended the Gram Samiti meeting in the village Kamthi. Addressing to around 50 villagers, Masroor introduced the organization & its core project, CIRC. He also interacted with the senior Gram Sabha member Mr. Thakur who was eager to offer all possible support to the CIRC initiative. He also invited the DEF representatives to his office to explain the process involved in the working of the Panchayat.
