On the occasion of Labour Day on 1st May 2016, a large scale village mela was organised at Bhim in District Rajsamand, Rajasthan. Over 5,000 villagers, including women, men and children from neighbouring villages gathered at the mela. DEF also seized the opportunity to connect with the village folk and established a stall called ‘Digital Chaupal’. The stall was hugely successful. People seemed extremely fascinated by the products and services offered at the stall. The stall offered digital gadgets, digital services including document lamination, photocopy, scanning and printing. ‘Digital Muqabla’, a tablet game contest kept-up the excitement level. Other interesting activities included Film Screening and Photobooth. The mela was organised by Mazdoor Kisaan Shakti Sangathan to aware villagers of their rights and entitlements and to motivate them fight for their rights.
