Digital Empowerment Foundation is organizing a two-day workshop for all Community Information Resource Centre coordinators on 14th and 15th May 2014 in Orcha, Madhya Pradesh. 20 Participants from 10 States are going to participate in this workshop. The workshop will be conducted in collaboration with Rural Knowledge Housing Network under the project “Grameen Awaas : Sthaniya Sahbhagita se Gunwatta Unnayan”
Panchayats are considered to be the key decision makers in determining village and settlement in many areas. This workshop aims at training the CIRC representatives about better and more planned housing construction in limited budget. The coordinators who learn are expected to later play an advisory role in Panchayat’s decision-making process to develop the living conditions of people in grassroots. The project tries to reach out to local leaders and influencers of rural habitat in villages across the country with the aim of making them well informed about planned housing processes.
It is expected that this effort will result in popularizing RHKN among panchayat leaders and Indira Awaas Yojana families. It will also be instrumental in familiarizing the local leadership with the various features of the portal. By directly training such individuals on the use of the portal, RHKN will reach the IAY beneficiaries contribute to improving the quality of rural housing stock as envisaged by Ministry of Rural Development.
