Few days ago, Ms Sarita & Ms Arti, professors from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) visited two centres in Alwar, Rajasthan. The visit was organised by CIRC coordination team members Irfan, Rehan & Yusuf. The professors wished to review the status of digital development within the rural regions of Alwar. Their experience was immensely positive and how! Around 40 young learners, along with trainer Fakhruddin werealready present at the Chandauli CIRC, eagerly awaiting their arrival. After being greeted by cheerful smiles, Ms Arti interacted with young learners, and asked them to share their expectations with regards to digital literacy, as well as their ambitions.
Following the Chandauli centre visit, team CIRC with team TISS conducted a community meeting at Jato ki Basti, which was attended by around 15 women. After the meeting, the team visited Kamla’s house. Her children have been learning computers at CIRC Chandauli for quite some time. This was followed by a visit to Ayesha’s place, who is also one of the CIRC beneficiaries. During interaction, Ms Sarita along with Ms Arti came to know that Ayesha’s father got so fascinated by the concept of Digital Literacy that he bought a new family laptop. Just like Ayesha, he wishes that his younger daughter, Madhubala too learns computers.
Next stop was CIRC, Bahadurpur. After being welcomed by Centre Coordinator Fateh Singh Gurjar, Ms Sarita and Ms Arti, alongwith Irfan and Rehan interacted with 40 students present. Here too, the students expressed great interest in computer education. They shared how digital literacy has started to help them in their studies and enhanced their general knowledge.
The professors from TISS showed great appreciation for the CIRC initiative.
