On Feb 2, 2014, Digital Empowered Foundation started CIRC centre at Jhodinda Bhojpura (Jaipur) in partnership with Vijaylaxmi Sharma, aimed as information, communication hub dealing with products and services in this regard serving the needs of the local communities in education, health, livelihood, public service delivery services and others. One important purpose of these CIRCs is to fulfill the content needs of local communities through online and offline facilities.
Jhodinda Bhojpura is a small Village/hamlet in Phagi Tehsil in Jaipur District of Rajasthan State, India. It comes under Pachala Panchayath. It belongs to Jaipur Division . It is located 50 KM towards South from District head quarters Jaipur. 53 KM from State capital Jaipur.
Vijaylaxmi was a child bride who refused to marry. Resident of Paghi village in Rajasthan, she was forced to marry young. She took on her family and relatives. Not only did she successfully resist the marriage but also fought her way through studying further. She also dissuaded the parents of other minor girls in the village from getting them married. With the help of a local NGO she has succeeded in getting the parents of married minor girls, to postpone their ‘vidai’ until they turn 18. News about Vijaylakshmi’s courage and achievements spread in the surrounding community. Other girls requested her to help them crusade for the fight against child marriage and she agreed. Today, Vijaylaxmi visits families of young girls to dissuade them from marrying their daughters at young age and uses her life story to demonstrate that a bright future for girls can be within reach. Now, she has done her MA and B.Ed. and is a dedicated teacher and continue with her work in her village.
