Story of a carpenter driven by his passion to become digitally literate
Abject poverty made Surendra Vyas of Arain, District Ajmer, give up his dream of further studies after school. But when he heard about the opening of a new NDLM centre the Panchayat, he didn’t delay and got himself enroled in the free computer course. He gradually groomed himself as a Computer Operator and acquired job at the toll plaza on Ajmer Highway. But this was only the beginning. He convinced his mother, too, to undergo training which enabled her to take up job as a caretaker at a neighbouring Anganwadi. Currently, Surendra works as a successful computer operator in the same Anganwari.
