Neither caste nor poverty could shake her spirit. A 25 year old from Village Doudi, district Hoshangabad, Savitri not only fulfilled her dream of being computer savvy, but with her energetic efforts, took others in her community, too, towards computer literacy. Having completed her basic and intermediate computer studies from IGNOU, she currently works as a Centre Coordinator of the CIRC in her village. Realising how computer education can elevate people’s lives, she strongly aspires to make everyone in her village, especially girls computer literate so that they can become a part of mainstream society. Prior to this, she has been an active member in several empowerment related initiatives, such as helping in the formation of self-help groups, being a Community Service Provider in Narmada Mahila Sangh and working as a Poshak Shahiyogni in an Aganwadi.
